The historic Astros of Kynouria is located in the Eastern Peloponnese in the west beach of the Argolic gulf , where the above map shows the ancient city of Thyrea and was the polis Astron, south of the first city in Europe the historic Argos and the seat of the Mycenaean culture, Mycenae.
Not far from Astros, about 4 km, is Paralio Astros which has enchanting beaches and the “sun and sea” of the Argolic gulf is charming. Paralio Astros was built from 1832-1845 by the general Panos Zafeiropoulos or Akouros, as the inhabitants of the village honor with his statue in the central square, “SETTLER OF PARALIO ASTROS”.
